It was 0 degrees this morning, and I didn't want to freeze so I planned to go run at the Sports Academy. My first 3 miles on the treadmill were 18 minutes flat. My first 2 miles were a little slow, so I really sped up that last mile. Took a break on got some water, then hopped back on and ran 2 more miles. One of those miles I put some incline in on the treadmill. Finished them in the high 5 minutes. Sorry I don't have exact times. Then I went and did some leg excercises. I was hurting pretty bad after doing those for about 30 minutes. Shot some hoops, then went back and did 1 more mile on the treadmill. Finished that one in about 7 minutes and 40 seconds. Good day of working out, excited to see how I'm gonna be able to get out of bed tomorrow morning. Thinking about going to Crystal Hotsprings again tonight which should feel good on my legs.

Due to the temperature, I didn't run outside again for the..... eh I don't even know how many days it has been. But anyways, I went to the Sports Academy once again and ran on the treadmill. I had a side ache for my first set which made it hard to push any harder. My first 3 miles I finished in 17:47. (The treadmill takes some time to get going at the pace that I wanted, so it added about 30 seconds on that one and extra time on every set that I did) Took a water break, then ran 2 miles in 12:12. Took another short breather then ran a mile in 5:23. Pretty tiring after that one. Finished with a slow cool down mile with a bit of incline. To be honest running on a treadmill for that long isn't so bad. I was going to give my legs a rest from the machines, but I realized that tomorrow is Sunday I can just rest then. My quads have been pretty sore lately so I just did 3x30 calf extensions for leg work. Not much, but hey don't judge. Then I went over to the seated row and did 3x30 to get a bit of upper body and shoulder work. I need to start focusing on my upper body a bit more. When all that was finished I played one game of pick up ball. Good day of workout.

Well Christmas break is over which sucks but that means the start of after school runs again. I was pretty tired today mainly because I didn't get very much sleep. I went to bed at like 10:15 and I didn't fall asleep for a couple hours. Went upstairs and got a bowl of cereal at 1:30 then I finally fell asleep at like 2. No worries though. Today we planned for a mile time trial so we could gauge what heat we are going to be in on saturday, but turns out the snow on the track had not melted so we changed the workout to a 4 mile interval workout. Just easy the first mile, hard the next, then easy, then hard. I finished my first hard mile in 5:20, and then my 2nd hard mile in 5:31. I would've been faster on that 2nd hard mile but I had to run around a car that stopped in an intersection, then I took it easy for a couple of steps because I almost stumbled on some ice. Finished with a half mile cool down. Might go to the Sports Academy later on today to get some more mileage in.

3.5 miles at the Sports Academy on the treadmill. 6:45 to 7 minute mile pace. Then lifted and worked on legs. Shot some hoops.

We were supposed to go do a hill workout on a hill in providence, but because it was snowing and kind of foggy our coach didn't want me running into any cars and damaging them, so he gave us a workout in the school to do. 3 sets of 5 hard laps on the inside of the school broken up with an moderate paced lap after each lap. After set it was followed with 25 push-ups and 50 sit ups. We were supposed to be going 5k pace, but we were really going like an 800 meter pace. We were pushing so hard! Ended up having to do the last 2 sets on the indoor track in the gym since the school closed the hallway doors. Since we couldn't use our watches since we were inside we estimated that it was about 3 miles. Good speed workout!

Went to the Sports Academy with Hayden later on and did 5 miles on the treadmill. First two miles in 13 minutes, and the 2nd two mile I finished in like 12:30, I can't remember the exact times. Then finished with a mile cool down with incline. Felt really good on that. Then we both shot some hoops for a couple of minutes. I'm way pumped for the USU indoor track meet. I hope I do well it's just really hard to say if I will or not because I don't have a ton of training behind me since I took a 10 week break for mono. I will just stay optimisitic! Peace.

Becuase of the crappy air right now, we just ran inside around the halls today. Got 2 miles of moderate and easy miles. Felt pretty good except for my triceps which still kill. Planned for more miles at the Sports Academy.

Did 4 miles at an easy 7:30 pace on the treadmill at Sports Academy with Hayden. Can't wait for the first indoor track meet. I'm gonna kill it.

Today was USU indoor track meet. First one of the year. I wasn't really expecting to do great because I have only had about 3 weeks of training since when I first came back from mono, then getting sick with strep throat right after Footlocker. I ran both the mile and 2 mile. I wanted to p.r. in both of them because I felt like that was a reachable goal despite getting sick. When I ran the mile I was just really tight in the arms and they were hurting but I tried my best to push through. I ended up getting past by like 4 kids in the last 400 meters. My conditioning is not the greatest and when I tried to stay up with them my body was making it pretty hard to do so. I ended up getting a 4:50, but I'm not way upset about it. For the two mile most people left, so I believe there was only like 5 guys racing it. I went out with Ethan for the first 9 laps or so but I couldn't keep up the pace. My first mile was 4:57, and I finished with a 10:25. Yeah that's not good for me at all. I did fine based on my conditions. All I can do from this point is continue to gain my cardio and strength back so I'm excited to see how I do in these future meets. Great job to all my fellow Hobby Joggers. You all did great!

I've got to make this short and sweet because I need to go to bed. After school workout was 5x1000's and 3 minutes. For an hour Eric, Hayden, and I shoveled on one lane in the track which was really hard. When we started running it was really hard to hit 3 minutes because of the snow which still made it a bit slippery and our lines weren't exactly straight. Decent workout. Didn't cool down because it was getting late.

6 miles at the Sports Academy on the treadmills. First 3 were in 18:05 and the next 3 miles was in 17:32. The treadmill takes a couple minutes to start going at the speed I wanted so it added some time. Finished off with some leg work on the machines, and a tiny bit of shoulders. Good workout. I bet I will be pretty sore tomorrow.

Today was not that memorable day for running. During lunch I wouldn't stop downing food because I was starving, and I could definitely feel it during my run. The workout was a moderate paced 6 miles. I didn't have my watch so I couldn't keep pace, so Hayden did with his watch. My stomach was not feeling good and and sometimes I just felt like throwing up. Made the run tough, but we still managed to stay under 6:30 for each mile, with our fastest mile being 6:05. No Sports Academy tonight. Me legs are pretty sore from lifting. Gonna go watch the Sky View and Mountain Crest game and maybe chat after with the sv kids. Peace.

Today's workout Don wanted us to do 30, 60, 90, 120 second hill repeats up the hill in Providence near the top of Center street. I wasn't really sure what to expect since this would be my first hill repeat workout since September. No explanation needed, you all know why. While starting, it was quite obvious to see that I have lost a lot of strength on hills which used to be my thing. By the time the 2 minute interval came, I was dead. But I still pushed hard and got near to the very top. I remember where I would get when I did this workout during the cross country season. So it shows that I got a lot of work to do to get caught back up. After we finished we ran to Don's house where we chatted for a couple minutes with him. Then we cooled down to 3 miles.

Went to the Sports Academy tonight to run and lift. The plan was 6 miles, First 3 miles I finished it 17:05 which felt pretty good. Took of couple minutes for a drink break and started running again. On my second set my first mile I finished in 6:45, but right before I finished that mile I told myself that I would push hard on the 2nd mile of that set. So right when it hit 1 mile (6:45) I tossed up the speed to 12 mph. It actually didn't feel too hard and I finished the next mile at (11:45) which just so happens to be 5 minutes flat. Wish I would've turned the speed up a little more at the end to break 5, but I don't really care. Took 1 more short break then finished with a 1 mile cooldown so I could finish with 9 miles for the day. I wish my milage was more built up and my body was more used to it because I would have done a couple miles more, but I live in fear of stress fractures and over usage injuries. When I was finished I did some leg curls, and bunch of other weights for my legs. Pretty succesful day. Gonna take it easier for the rest of the week so I feel good for BYU.

2 really easy miles at the Sports Academy. Ran at an 8 minute mile pace which is probably the easiest I have ran in a while. After I finished my legs weren't as sore so it felt good. Before I left I turned up the speed to 15 mph which is a 4 minute mile pace and ran 400 meters. That goes by so fast at that pace. Shot some hoops after.

Didn't get very much sleep at all which sucked, but I got to nap on the way down to BYU so that was nice. I've never ran on the indoor track at BYU, but I love it. Probably the sickest track the I have ever ran on. When we got there we set up camp and chilled for a while until we had to warm up for the mile. All day long I had been experiencing digestion problems which made running a bit of a challenge. Fiber is the enemy... Not gonna go into much detail about that. When we started the mile  got out to a good start but just wasn't feeling that good because of what was happening and by the 3rd lap out of 5 I seriously contemplated dropping out. Really tightened up and just made pushing myself as hard as I could difficult. Finished with a 4:47. I wasn't really too happy with it, but it was alright. Cooldown and chilled then got lunch. Had a pretty long wait for the 2 mile. Finally got to warm ups and I still was having the same problem. Just not as bad as earlier in the day. Wasn't quite sure how I would do in the 2 mile. I tried to stay relax and try my best not to tighten up in the shoulders. Opened up in 57 seconds. (350m track btw) Each of my laps were pretty consistent around 61 seconds. I really focused on letting my long legs do a lot of the work by just trying to get bigger strides. Ethan widened a gap between me and him with a couple laps left, but that last lap I made up a lof of ground. Finished 2nd to him by 3 seconds. My time was 10:03 which I was happy with because it's a p.r. and I only have about 4 weeks of training in me right now. So there is a lot of room for improvement. I had an awesome day racing and being with all my friends. I'm so happy I get to do this every weekend for a couple weeks. Looking forward to the next meet on Saturday at Weber.

No running today. My leg that started hurting at BYU has gotten worse, and my coach believes that it is an over usage injury. I believe it too. I hopped my mileage up from 0 to about 45 in about 4 weeks. So I went to the Sports Academy and did some weight lifting for my upper body. Then sat in the hot tub and sauna. Gonna go to the pool before school tomorrow morning so I can get some cross training. I might start trying to run on thursday depending on how it feels.

Woke up early and met Hayden at the school at 6:20. We strapped the water belts on and ran for 35 minutes in the pool. My leg definitely sore and wasn't feeling to great. Hopefully this feeling will go away soon.

pm: Went to Sports Academy and lifted weights. I first just focused on my back, shoulders, chest and my core. Then I thought it would be alright to give my legs a workout, just not anything that hurts the one certain part of my leg that has been hurting. So I did a lot of calf extensions with 90 pounds of weight, and worked on my quads too. It all felt really good. Gonna swim again tomorrow morning before school.

Met Hayden this morning before school again at the pool. Our workout was 10 minutes warmup. Then we did 1 minute hard 30 seconds easy, 1:30 hard 30 seconds easy and keep increasing the hard interval by 30 seconds until we got all the way up to 3 minutes hard. Then we would come back down by 30 seconds. After we finished the 2 minute hard interval on the down side, we got told that we had to leave so they could close up the pool, so we didn't quite get the whole workout finished, but that's alright. It was a really good workout and got me breathing hard. I hope to try running tomorrow.

Today is the first day that I have ran this week. I've got to say it was probably one of the most rough workouts that I've done since I came back from mono. The workout was out at 6:15 mile pace, and after every mile get progressively faster by 15 seconds, (and a half mile warmup). We were supposed to do this for 5 miles. So by the last mile it would be at 5:15 pace. Really this shouldn't have been a hard workout, but today was a bad day for running. I'm not gonna rattle of a list of my excuses because I don't feel like it. I stayed on pace for the first 2.5 mile but the last 2.5 were really difficult for me. Finished with a half mile cooldown. I hope I get feeling well for Weber.

I was really motivated to do a hard workout today because I had missed the Weber meet and pretty much all of last week, so I felt like I really needed to push myself today. The workout was 16x200 meter at 40 seconds faster than 5k pace and a 100 meter jog between each interval. Hayden, Eric and I warmed up for a mile before we started. Since the track was covered with snow we had to go out on the road and do it, which sucked. Doing speed workouts like that without a track makes everything hard because you don't know exactly where 200 meters is. So we ran hard for .13. I did pretty decent on the first 12, but on the last 4 I fell off. We finished with a slow mile cooldown. It was a really good workout and I was really happy to be outside in the great weather. I'm starting to hope for spring weather. Finished with 5 miles total.

Went to Sports Academy and did 3 easy miles on the treadmill. I set the incline to 2 so it would feel more realistic to running on the ground. Next up I did an hour of weights focusing a lot on my legs, but I did some abs, back, and chest work. I'm gonna wake up way sore tomorrow but that's okay, I like that feeling.

Today I did not want to run in Hyrum again, it has just gotten really boring. So Hayden, Eric and I drove to Providence to do our workout. The workout was 7 miles altrenating paces from easy to moderate. My legs were very sore from yesterday after lifting weights  and running so I wasn't feeling fresh. We started on our easy mile for a warmup and headed toward cliff side. My first moderate mile was in 6:32 which had a good amount of up hill. When we hit 3 miles we turned around and started our next moderate mile which I did in 5:30. It started getting chilly and my hands froze. My last moderate mile was in 5:50. Then we cooled down to 7 miles. I'm not gonna run at the Sports Academy tonight because I have a service project tonight for mutual.

I was pretty excited for the workout today because I love running hills. They might suck but they make me such a stronger runner. Me and Eric drove over to Providence and got up to Center street. We did a really short warm up, and by the way it was really warm which was awesome. I didn't have to run with a jacket so that was nice. The workout on the hill was a 30, 60, 90, 120 second hill repeats. The 30 and 60 were hard but I had to really dig deep for the 90 and 120. I can already tell that by 2 weeks time I have gained a lot of strength back on hills. I got a lot farther up than I did last time which helps boost my confidence. After we finished we stopped by Don's and had a chat with him. Then we cooled down to 3 which sounds really short but I was going to run later at the Sports Academy.

5 miles moderate to easy at the Sports Academy on the treadmill. My legs are sore but I bet that will go away by saturday. I'm way pumped and I'm gonna throw down a good time.

Today I was really tired just the whole day so when it was time to run I didn't have the same kind of motivation that I always do, but that didn't stop me from going run. Today was 7 easy miles which was nice because I have been working hard all week long. Started at Zollinger Park in Providence and went through River Heights all the way up to the Temple. Kept on going north and eventually ended up on 4th north. I ran down to main street and headed all the way back to the park. I took it pretty easy, 7:31 average mile pace which felt real nice on my muscles that have been sore all week long.

Woke up this morning so pumped to run at the Oval, only to have my mom come into my room and tell me that we weren't going because of how much it had snowed. I look out my window, and holy fetch where did all that come from!? I was really dissapointed because I was feeling really good and I knew I was gonna run my very best. Atleast I will have one more chance this indoor season to run at the oval. Anyways, I went to the Sports Academy to go run because it was pretty nasty and slushy outside. I was planning for a real hard workout because I didn't race. Starting with a 1 mile warmup, then did 3 miles at tempo pace with the incline at 2 for the first mile of that 3 mile set. Finished the 3 miles in 15:50. I was gonna do another 3 hard but I wasn't feeling it after that set, and I knew I had a hard leg workout after. So I did 2 more at an easier pace. I got off the treadmill and just competely killed my legs on the machines. Usually I don't workout my legs for that hard and that long, but after I finished my last set on a machine I got off and almost blacked out. I was stumbling all around and couldn't stay up. I went and sat down for a couple minutes then I realized that I was 1 mile away from 40 miles this week. (My pre-race day screwed everything up) So I did a reallllllly easy mile on the treadmill. When I finished with that I felt like complete junk all around and didn't feel too good. Atleast I can say I made up for missing a race.

It was pretty cold again and once again, I forgot gloves so I decided to use a pair of clean running socks to put on my hands so they wouldn't freeze as fast. We were gonna try to do 3 miles of hills for our workout, so we ran over to one of the blocks in Hyrum that has hills in on 2 sides of that block. We would run hard on the hillly side hard, and then take it wasy on the flat side. It was a pretty good workout that wore me out real quick. It definitely the most productive workout ever. My legs didn't have that freshness and pop that I usually have, I'm guessing because of how hard I lifted on Saturday. Finished at 4 miles, then cooled down to 6.

Went to the Sports Academy and did 3 easy miles on the treadmill which felt real nice. Then I did some upper body lifts and worked on my core. I am not racing this saturday so I hope my milage will be somewhere from 45-50 miles this week.

Today Hayden, Eric, and I did 7 somewhat easy miles throughout Logan and Providence. The loop was the same 7 mile loop we did about a week ago. As we were up by the Temple we passes Cameron and stopped and talked to him which was cool. When we got over to 4th north thats when everything started to slow down because a lot of the sidewalks hadn't been shoveled and it was pretty slippery. The whole run I was freezing, my gloves are terrible. The average pace was 7:30 and probably would've been under 7 if it wasn't so slippery for the second half of the run. Glad to be done now and warm up.

Well today was actully very nice outside. It was warm and sunny, so it made my whole mood about running even better. Eric and I just did 6 miles and a moderate pace. Starting at Mountain Crest then doing McDonalds loop all the way down to Lincoln Elementary. My first miles were a little slow but the whole run just felt so nice. On our way down to Lincoln I let my imagination take over and I imagined if I was in the Freedom Run for the last mile and a half. That just made me pick up the pace a ton. The downhill felt really good too. When we hit 3 we turned back and did the same route backwards instead of going on a loop. My average mile pace was a 6:39 which would've been a lot faster if I wouldn't have taken the first mile and a half so slow, but that's fine with me. The workout was really fun. When I got back to the school, I checked my phone and apparently the run was supposed to be 7 miles and not 6. Oops, my bad. I will just make up for it later in the week. I'm not going to the Sports Academy tonight because I'm going to Crystal Hotsprings with my family which should be really fun.

Today has been one of the better days that I have had in a couple weeks. I wasn't as tired as I have been in a while. The workout was 7 miles of 400 meter intervals, and then 400 meters easy between each interval. Each fast interval was about a high 4 to low 5 minute mile pace. Doing intervals on Hollow Road makes that road seem so much shorter which is nice. We were supposed to finish our intervals at the end of the road, and just take it easy back to MC, but Hayden and I did the intervals all the way up Nibley dip, then we took it easy. I actually had a really fun time. It was quite warm and I ran with my jacket around my waist. I hope that groundhog is right because I want warm weather so bad. Finished with 7 miles.

Did 4 miles at Sports Academy on the treadmill. The first two miles were in 11:46, then I took the last two a lot easier in 14:07. Then I went a did some lifting working out my legs, back and core. It was getting late but I shot around for a couple minutes too. I had a really great day working out.

Average mile pace was a 7:05. We got a pretty tough workout planned for tomorrow, so that should be good. Goodluck to all racing in Boise today and tomorrow.

The air was so warm so I wore shorts which was awesome, which really excites me for spring. Hayden, Eric, and I did a long hilly loop through Providence and Millville. On the flat parts we ran at moderate pace. Anywhere from 6 to 6:30 mile pace. On the hills we really tried to pick up the pace and get in a good workout. After the biggest hill in Millville, it was so darn hot that we all took our shirts off. I'm sure the people that drove past us were thinking that we were a but of idiots because it still only about 30 degrees. We ran back to Zollinger Park in Providence and dropped our clothing off at the car. Then we ran to Hayden's house to get a drink because I was so thirsty. Pushed the last mile at a good pace and finished at 8. Really glad to get out and run today. It was a beautiful day! No Sports Academy tonight. I have the Sweet Hearts dance that I'm going to which will be fun. Peace.

So today the air quality wasn't that great, and breathing bad air is something that I always get paranoid about, so I decided to do my workout inside at the Sports Academy after school. The workout was supposed to be 7 miles at a moderate pace. As I started running I just noticed that my leg kind of hurt in a couple of places but I didn't let it bother me. I finished the first 4 miles in 23:37 which is just a couple seconds under 6 minute mile pace. It's like a 5:56 or close to it. Well anyways as I got off, my shin started to really bother me and hurt. To go along with that my hip flexor has really been hurting too for the past couple days. I wanted to get back on the treadmill and push but I didn't want to hurt anything. I ended up getting back on and doing 2 more miles in 12:08. This is when everything started hurting and bothering me. I really wanted to finish with about 9 today but I also wanted to play it safe, so I just ran 6 miles which sucked. I ended with some leg excercises but that still was uncomfortable to my legs, so I cut the lifting short today. I hope I start feeling better soon.

I got to the Oval and immediatley fell in love with the track. I sat and chilled with Ethan, Hayden, Claire and some other kids. I had a real good time talking with my fellow Hobby Joggers. I was feeling pretty good with exception of my hip flexor that was still hurting a bit. I went and warmed up down stairs instead of going outside because that smoggy air makes it hard for me to breath. I wasn't quite sure on mileage but I ran for about 15 minutes so I'm estimating around 2 miles. When I went back up stairs they called for the boys 3200 so I through on the spikes and ran over. I did a few dynamic stretches and stride outs while the girls were racing. When we were put on the starting line, the race officials didn't do a very good job of seperating people by time. I was in the middle of the front line. When the gun went off, I did a good job getting out and was in a good 2nd place spot. For the next 5 laps I sat right behind Ethan. The next group of kids were pretty far back from us. With about 2 laps left Ethan started to open up a bit of a gap, and that is where I have to do better mentally to stay in the race. By the last lap I was pretty tired but I still did my best to push all the way to the end. My goal was to break 9:45, but I didn't quite get it, I got a 9:52. I was still happy with it though. I finished 2nd to Ethan by 7 seconds. The group behind me was able to somewhat close the gap and 3rd place came in 3 seconds behind me. I was so happy to be done and sit and take a break for a couple minutes. Later we did a cool down with some of the other Hobby Joggers on the track. I didn't do a very good job of keeping track, but I would say it was probably around a mile and a half. Great job to everybody that ran yesterday. It was really fun to meet some new people. I'm way excited to race at Simplot this next week. Hopefully I can get a big P.R.. Peace.

Well today my legs were wrecked which was weird because I only raced 2 miles yesterday. I kept on getting cramps in me hamstring, calf, and foot which just killed. I have really wanted to run outside because running on the treadmill has gotten a bit boring. The air still wasn't the best, so did 8 miles at the Sports Academy on the treadmill. It was long, boring, and painful. I didn't get very much mileage this week either which sucks too. Hopefully the inversion will clear out soon.

Today is Presidents day so it's nice to get a day off of school. The air was so warm outside and the inversion was gone too, so that was great. Before I ran I went to Crystal Hotsprings with some of my pals. The water felt really good on my legs. When I got home it started getting dark and I hadn't done my run yet, so I threw on my running stuff and got out the door. Not even .1 into my watch completely froze and wasn't working so I shut it off and reloaded my GPS. My watch said it was at 15 percent battery life. That wasn't enough life to last my run. Plus I really needed a watch to complete my workout which was 7 miles at alternating pace from moderate to hard. My watch continued to be screwy with the mileage and stuff so I said screw it. I was just gonna run my whole run hard. I felt so good while runnning the whole time. I don't know if it was the warm air or what, but I was flying. If I did have my watchto show pace, I would've said I was going about a 5:45 pace. It was pitch black outside and I was still running, so I decided I better end my workout. The route that I did if I remember correctly was about 6 miles. Not quite 7 but I will make up for that later. Im pshyched to see that the air is going to be warm like this for a while.

Today was just like yesterday, warm and beautiful outside. I was really excited to start my workout. After running in the cold and on a treadmill for a couple months you get really excited to get weather like this. Our workout today was a 5 mile progression run where every mile is 15 seconds faster than the last. First we warmed up for a mile to Canyon Elementary and back, then we started. We headed towards the Hyrum stake center. The slower miles were no problem at all and felt really really good. Just as if I were warming up. It started getting hot so I took my shirt off which felt good. When we started getting into the 5's I was still feeling great, and by the time we had our last hard mile which was at 5:15 pace, I hit that no problem. My mile splits were, 6:18, 6:10 (idk why we were slow on that one) 5:48, 5:31, (for the 5:15 mile pace mile I had to stop and tie my shoe which took a good 20 seconds because I kept on fumbling my laces and I forgot to stop my watch but my last split was 5:33. I would've hit 5:15. This was a pretty easy workout today. I have been feeling awesome the past couple days. I am gonna be one happy person if I continue to feel like this. I haven't felt this good since the beginnning of cross country, so that's a good sign.

Simplot was today, and I was so gratetful that I got to run today. Once again, I fell in love with the track as I have many past tracks that I've raced at this indoor season. When I got there I took a few laps with Ethan to get a feel for the track. I was feeling pretty good. When it got time to warmup, I did about a mile with Ethan and a stride out before I went back inside. They called 2nd call for the 3200 right as I got back inside, so I was freakin out that I was gonna get scratched, so I hustled my butt over there and thankfully got there in time. I was pretty nervous but feeling good. I was 13th in my heat so I had to start on the front outside waterfall. I got out to a good start, but a little fast. My first mile was in 4:44, which was a sign that I went out too fast. I kept on getting past in the last mile, and it was really frustrating because I still felt like I was running hard. I ended up finishing in 9:48.64 which is a new p.r. but I was still upset because I knew that wasn't enough to make the finals. Turns out to make the finals this year was a 9:39 or lower. That sucks because last year to make it you had to run a 9:55. I learned a lot from this race. I'm not gonna type all the lessons that I learned because it's late. I'm glad I can use what I learned from indoor and apply it into running for this up coming outdoor season. Peace.

Today we got Joe to come run with us, so that was good to see him run. We didn't want to run in Hyrum, so we stopped at my house in Nibley and did one of my favorite routes. Even though there was a tiny bit of snow coming down, the air felt really good, and at one point it got too hot, so we took off our shirts. We did 6 miles at a moderate to sub 6 minute pace. It was really weird because I wasn't feeling way good, but at the same time I wasn't feeling fatigued so I was able to run in the high 5's for some of those miles. After we finished those 6 miles we did a slow mile cooldown which felt really nice. Later on after our workout I found out that we were supposed to just do 10 at a moderate pace all in one run. I didn't know, so I decided that I had to make up for my mistake and run again. I went to the Sports Academy and did a 4 mile, mile interval workout. My legs were a bit fatigued, but I tried to silence the negative thoughts in my mind. On my slow miles I was doing around a 6:30-6:40 pace. On my harder miles I was going around a 5:50-6:00 minute mile pace. They weren't way hard miles, but since my legs were pretty fatigued, I still got a pretty good workout. After I lifted weights and did a lot of leg excercises. I sat up after doing leg curls, and everything turned black and I almost passed out. I was lifting as hard as I could for a while, so I see why. Did some core, and then finished with a mile in 6 minutes on the treadmill. This week I am going to try to increase my mileage so I can have a better base for track. For two weeks I barley got past 30 miles, and that's not good at all. Peace.

I was glad that today was a recovery day because I really needed it. My legs were tired after yesterdays workout, and we have a really tough hill workout planned tomorrow. But anyways back to the run. I stayed a nice high 6 and low 7 minute mile pace. My hands were really cold for some reason which sucked.I still had a really good time running and listening to music. I have been dreading today's workout all week long. Don gave us a hill workout of 6 by 2 minute hill repeats on center street near the top, in Providence. Usually we would do a 30, 60, 90, 120 seconds hill repeats but today it was straight 2 minutes every time. The center street hill is so long and steep, so it would be perfect for this workout. Hayden wasn't able to be there, but Eric and Trey tagged along. We did a little under a mile for a warmup. When we started I tried to stay as close as I could to 5k pace and really push the hill. I just kept on focusing on markers in front of me and really tried pushing it to those markers. On every set I was able to make it to the top of the hill and around the right hand turn where there was this garbage can that I tried to pass everytime. In 2 minutes my watch showed that I was able to go about .30 everytime which I guess is pretty good for how steep the hill is. On my last set I pushed it as hard as a I could and got past my farthest record. I had to just sit down on the road for a couple minutes because I probably would've fallen over if I tried staying up. I was at about 3.5 for mileage, so Eric and I cooled down to 5 miles. Man am I happy to be done with that.

Went to the Sports Academy and did 3 easy to moderate miles on the treadmill, then went and lifted weights. I am gonna be so sore tomorrow. Yay. Peace.

We were going to run through this dark cave that goes all the way through to the other part of the mountain, but right by the mouth of the cave there was a dead deer that looked like it had been eaten pretty recently. We decided to not run through the cave because I didn't want to scare any mountain lions. We ended up turning around and running back to the dam and down through the island. We picked up the pace for the last 3 miles which didn't feel to good because I was a tired from yesterday and my knee was still hurting. I still had a really good time. Our coach gave us a track workout to do which I was really excited about because I love track workouts. The workout was 400,800, 1200, 1600, 1200, 800, 400. We were going to run on our track, but because our school was having soccer tryouts and they were running on the track, we went to Logan to run. We warmed up for a mile then started. My pace was in the high 4's and low 5's for each of the sets. Around the 1600 interval I could tell that a seam in my right spike was digging into the bottom of my foot. I usually don't run a ton of miles at one time in these spikes but after a while it was killing. I kept running and it ended up putting a nasty hole in my foot. Whatever. But anyways ended up seeing Cameron and Jack near the end. Cameron ran part of my 800 with me which was cool. On my last 400 my split was 60.4.. Not bad after running 6 hard miles. Cooled down to 7 barefoot which really hurt because of that hole in my foot. Idk why I did that? Really excited for track to start.

Today's workout was an 8 mile progressive run starting at 6:45 and speeding up by 15 seconds every mile so our last mile would be 5 flat. Hayden and I met at first dam and ran up towards USU. Our first mile was a little slow because of the huge hill that we have to run up to get to the university. The first 4 miles felt decent, but both of our legs were dead from yesterday and running with spikes for as long as we didn't help at all. It was quite clear with how we were feeling that hitting those low 5's were going to be really hard but we both tried to push hard despite our sore legs. Our last 4 miles were a little above or a below 5:30. Still was a killer workout and I can definitely feel it in my legs. We cooled down for a mile to get 9. Am I glad to be done with that one.

We got a mile warm up and then started. I pushed the hill hard every set, then jogged to the bottom where we didn't get a rest then started again. By the time the 2 minute interval came around I was already sucking for wind. I was dead but talked to myself and asked myself how good I wanted to be. I got .30 for distance and barley passed the mark that I always shoot for. We then ran to Don's and visited with him for a couple minutes. We needed to get about 6 for mileage so we drove down to Zollinger park to cool down. It was hot. I was tired. It sucked. I love to run.

Finally after a long hard week of difficult runs and sore muscles we had a recovery run. This was the first day of track which is awesome! Our coaches have really wanted us distance runners to participate in team warm-ups which took forever because it was the first day. Ended up doing 5 really easy miles around Hyrum which still really hurt my legs. I got to run in my new Adidas Ultra Boost which I really like. Got back to the school and did a barefoot mile on the turf. We have a really hard workout planned for tomorrow so I'm really looking forward to that.

Don was able to come out to mountain crest and coach us during our workout so that was good to see him. Our workout was four 1 mile intervals at two mile pace, then a 400 meter jog between each. I could already tell that going that fast was going to be tough because this week has just been killer on my legs. My first mile was 4:52, but after that mile it was quite apparent that hitting my 2 mile pace wasn't going to happen. My next 2 mile were low 5's, and my last mile was in 5:10. I hurt but I'm glad that it was a good workout. Don told us that he didn't expect us to get hit the times right on because of the hard workouts that he was giving earlier in the week. Cooled down to 6.5..

This morning Hayden and I went on an easy 10 mile recovery run starting in Providence. We ran past 1st dam and up the hill to USU looping back to 4th north and back to Providence. My calves were really sore from yesterday and I didn't have very much energy. Average pace was 7:42 which was nice because I haven't ran that slow in a long time.

Today Don gave us a really easy workout just so he could make sure we were feeling better from last week. Just an easy 4 miles. But first we started with team warm ups where I ran a mile on the track, and did team stretches. I was feeling pretty good and the air outside was perfect. Hayden, Eric, and I ran past the stake center at a real comfortable pace. Back at the school we did 4x100m strideouts on the track and then finished with a half mile barefoot on the football field. Today was just an awesome day. I can't wait for the real racing to start.

Just trying to get feeling better from all of last weeks workouts. I don't want to keep digging myself into a deeper hole and I need to get recovered. I warmed up for 2 miles and then put my spikes on and did 4x800 at a little faster than 5k pace. I was pretty consistent on all my times. I finished each around 2:30. I felt pretty good but just a little sore. Ran to canyon elementary then back to do a barefoot mile.

Well I woke up pretty sore again today which is nice. Not really but Don wanted me to take it pretty easy again. Did some team warm ups then took off to go do 6 easy. I'm really suprised that I have still been so sore. Usually I will feel sore from a really good workout for two days tops. I tend to recover really quickly, but apparently not this week. But anyways, I did McDonalds loop and went down main street in Hyrum for a couple of blocks then headed back to the school. Had 5 miles when I got there so I ran a mile barefoot on the turf. Maybe I need to incorporate mile protein in my diet to help me rebuild my muscle quicker.

Each day I keep feeling better but Don suggested that I still take it easier until I feel like I'm 100 percent. For aerobics this morning my class had to do a mile and half run on the track. I ran at and easy to moderate pace and finished in 8:30. Ha I didn't want to look like a try-hard so I didn't really run hard at all but geez everybody was going like a 9 minute mile pace, so it made me look like I was flying when I wasn't. For track I did 8x200 at just a bit faster than mile pace with a 200 meter active recovery in between each set.. I was really conisistent and hit anywhere from 29 to 31 seconds. I felt pretty good even though it wasn't a hard workout by any means. Cooled down for a mile to Canyon Elementary and then did a mile and a half on the turf. I can't wait to when I feel 100 again and do some hard track workouts. Peace.

Mile time trial today. To be honest I hate time trials because they suck and it's like racing when there is really no race. You don't have the usual adrenaline going through you so the feeling is a lot different. I warmed up to 2 by running on the dirt road east of Canyon Elementary. When I got back to the school I switched into my vic's and my coach started me out. My coach started a big group to run the mile while I was warming up so it was just another slower kid and me. I felt pretty good the first lap. The only thing that sucked was until from the 300 back to the start there was a really big headwind. That sure slowed me down a bit. By the last lap my split was was a 3:33. I was still feeling really good but I just didn't have that urgency to start pushing all out. I picked up the pace just a bit and crossed the line in 4:40. That's kinda slow for me but I don't really care. I didn't have the racing mentality. Cooled down to 6 with Eric.

Headed over to Sky View at about 8:45 to register and warmup. Ethan was supposed to be there so we could run this together but he was lazy and slept in. Did a mile and a half warmup. Everything felt really good, and my new Kinvara's felt good too. When I got back everybody was walking to the start line, so I didn't have time to get some water but that's fine. When we started, the first half mile of the course was up hill, but I'm way glad that was at the beginning instead of part way through it. I could tell in the first 15 seconds of the race that I wasn't going to have anybody staying with me. I created such a big gap between second place and I, it felt like I wasn't even racing. The downhill felt real nice and I just focused on striding and keeping good form. Felt really good the whole race and ended up with a 16:59. I'll take it. Later I cooled down a mile and a half with Claire along one of the trails by the canal. When we got back her mom insisted that Hayden and I go with them to get a shake from McDonalds. That was super nice of her.

Later in the afternoon I did 4.5 in Nibley to finish with 10.5 for the day.

First time getting to run this whole week. I got sick at the beginning of the week and had to miss our first meet which sucked. Ethan called me up and asked if I wanted to do some trail running with him and Claire. I was down so I met at his house then we picked up Claire. We drove up Birch canyon and started running up the mountain. So early in the run I already felt out of shape. I was out of breath and just didn't feel to great. Ethan was hauling up the mountain so I stayed with Claire. We stopped at the top of every ridge to look out over the valley. The view was sick. When we got to the very end ridge we took a break for a bit and tried rolling rocks down the mountain which was super fun. On our way back we got some awesome downhill which felt really nice. I felt awesome to start moving fast again after a week of doing nothing. When we got back to the car we did 3 more miles up Smithfield canyon which was fun. Claire invited us over after the run for a snow cone, and her mother made Ethan and I a sandwich so that was cool. Glad to be back at it again.

pm: 7 mile at a moderate pace. Don wants to make sure I am feeling a hundred again before I start doing some fast track workouts. Did upper turkey sheds to McDonald's loop. Instead of turning back to the school I kept going down main street in Hyrum. I've been missing cross country so I turned at the cemetery and ran down cemetery hill. Ran down the road on part of our home course then back up the other side of the cemetery. Got back to the school and finished with a barefoot mile on the turf. Feeling better everyday, so that is good.

Don gave me a ladder workout to do on the track, It was 200, 400, 600, 800, 800, 600, 400, 200. I between every interval you would do an active recovery jog of half the distance of what you just ran. I haven't worn my Nike Victory spikes that much so I decided to do the workout in them even though I knew it was going to kill my calves. I warmed up for a mile to Canyon elementary then started. To be honest most of it was a blur. Everything just seemed to go by so quick. I was feeling pretty tired during the whole workout which explained my need for a nap later that day. I could just remember the last 400 and 200 hurting way bad in my calves. It was a pretty decent workout. I definitley could have ran a lot better but I guess I'm just getting back into the flow of things after not running all last week. Cooled down for 2 miles with Eric out to the turkey sheds.

My calves are pretty darn sore so it definitely made this run really fun. Don told us to do an 8 mile progression run starting at 7 minute mile pace and then go down by 10 seconds every mile. In my head I was thinking that this was going to be pretty easy because he has had us do much harder progression runs. Starting at 7 minute mile pace sounded pretty easy. Nah. My calves were shredded and the pain didn't leave my legs the whole run. Hayden, Trey, and Eric all came along and we ran hollow road. At the top of the Nibley Dip hill I had to stop for a couple minutes to catch my breath because I felt like I was dying. Hayden and I pushed the hill pretty hard. We ended up having to run past Mountain Crest and past Canyon elementary and back to get 8 miles. The last mile at 5:50 pace actually felt a lot better than most of the other miles which was pretty weird. Maybe I was just excited to be finished. This is the kind of run that I am so glad to be done with. Cooled down on the turf barefoot to 9 miles. After Hayden, Eric, Joe (yes, I stopped and got joe) and I went to the Logan track meet just to watch. Cameron did pretty good in the 800 so good job to him. I need a protein shakkke. Peace.

Hill repeats with Eric today. Did a mile warm up then started. We did 30, 60, 90, 120 seconds repeats on the center street hill in Providence. The first 2 intervals weren't very bad but the 90 and 120 second intervals sucked. I've had some pretty good workouts all week long and so I wasn't doing this workout on fresh legs. On the two minute interval I got to the top of the hill and past the sewer on the road that I always try pass. Got a pretty good workout, but this is one of the easier hill workouts that our coach gave us. Cooled down to Von Baer park and found some cool trails that I never knew were there. Finished at 6. Probably should've gone more. Oops.

At about 3:30 I finally got enough motivation to go run. Drove to Zollinger Park in Providence and head towards cliff side. I got some pretty good hills in this run, but I wasn't pushing them or anything. Today was supposed to be a pretty easy day. Once I got to cliff side I ran to 1st dam then up the hill to USU. I suprisingly wasn't very sore and was feeling pretty good. On the way back to Zollinger I picked up the pace just a little bit. Average mile pace was 7:09. Can't wait for this next week because I got a lot of really good workouts planned. I don't have a meet yet until April 9th so I don't have to taper for anything soon.

So I woke up this morning so glad to start my first day of spring break, just to look out the window and see a winter wonderland. Great. I wanted to get a tan on, but no. That dumb ground hog lied! Hayden and I thought of places we could go to run so we decided to go to USU and try to get in the field house. It turned out that the USU track team was using the track, so that was a no go. Since we were both dressed warm we decided to just run on the campus. Don gave us a workout of 4 mile repeats at 5:30 pace. I was actually planning on combining 2 of the intervals together and then pick up the pace to 5:10 pace. That was going to be really hard since I wasn't going to be on a track and it seemed like every direction that I turned the snow and wind was being blown right at me. Warmed up for a mile then did the workout. I was sopping wet and still had to do 6x200 at mile pace. After my 3rd 200 my femur started hurting but I couldn't tell if the pain was in the bone or it was muscular. I decided to not do the last 3 because it is smarter to be safe than sorry. Didn't cool down because, well, I was already cold. :p I wish I could've gotten more milage but I didn't want to hurt anything. Stretched later and it feels like the pain was in my muscle, so I should be good. Peace.

Well I had a tough hill workout planned for today but I just decided last night that I'm going to race at UVU on saturday, so I am going to do the hill workout after my race later in the day. I'm going to run the mile by the way. I did 7 at an easy to moderate pace. I know yesterday was easy but I just want to make sure that I'm feeling fresh for saturday. I started from my home and did the same route as yesterday, but instead of turning back I kept going down hollow road and up Blacksmith Fork hill. I was just going to run to my grandmas house in Hyrum and get a ride home from my mom who was coming a bit later. I had kind of a stomache ache so it made the first 7 miles kind of miserable. Grandma fed me lots of junk food when I got there so that was awesome. A couple hours later I did a mile at my home in 5:46 which felt pretty good.

Definitely not what I was hoping for. The night before I got about 4 hours of sleep. I went to bed a little before 10 and I kept on checking the time, and the last time I checked it was 12:45. I think the reason why I couldn't sleep is because I kept thinking about the race in the morning. I woke up at 5 because the plan was to leave by house at 6. The drive down, I didn't get an ounce of sleep because usually once I'm awake for a while, then I can't go back to sleep. When I got there I checked in then did a mile and half warm up. My event was about 15 minutes later. Finally to the race. I had the 4th spot on the line and when we started, the 18 people on my outside had cut in and I was immediately boxed in. To make matters worse, whoever was in front was not pushing the pace at all. Our first 400 meters we did in 1:11. Way to slow. The whole next lap I was pushing to try and get out which I finally did. The third lap I did a poor job on keeping my position and staying tight on the person in front of me. A few people slipped in front of me which was bad of me. The fourth lap I did a poor job of kicking and passing people. I didn't get passed by anybody, but I didn't pass anyone either. When I crossed the line I still felt like I had more in the tank and I could've run faster. Physically I felt good. I ended up finishing 24 overall but I’m a much better runner than what my race had reflected. Although I was not happy with my time I still was glad that I got the opportunity to run because I learned a lot of valuable things during that race. Things that I will be able to apply into my races in the future. It was the first time that I have raced this outdoor season so I hope I can get all the bad out of the way at the beginning and start doing well from now on. I don’t race again until this Saturday, so I’m looking forward to a week of good workouts.

Later at about 4:30 I did a hill workout that I promised my coach I would do after my race. The workout was 6 by 2 minute hill repeats on center street hill in Providence. I was a little tired but still got a really good workout. Cooled down for 2 miles so I could get 10 for the day.

Did 1 mile in aerobics on the football field. Workout for track was 2 mile warmup, then 4 by 800 at 2 mile pace and a 400 in between each interval. I pushed the pace faster than 2 mile pace because that was too slow for only 4 800's. Splits were 2:11, 2:19, 2:25, 2:18. There was a significant amount of headwind on the home stretch. Not that hard of a workout at all which kind of dissapoints me. Cooled down for 2 miles.

For track I was supposed to go on a distance run, but my coach didn't have a 3200 time to put in for the Grizz invite so I did a time trial for that. Warmed up for 2 miles then started. I just had to get a time that I know would put me in the first heat, so I didn't have to push way hard. First mile was 5:02 and I felt real comfortable. Finished in 10:07 which didn't feel as hard I would've thought. Cooled down for 2 miles with Hayden and Eric. I can't wait for Saturday because I feel like I'm going to get a huge p.r..

From the looks of it that will definitely put you in the first heat, it's actually faster than any of the times entered so far. That's weird that your coach made you time trial, could've just guessed pretty well, like 10:00. See u on saturday, hopefully I can be the caboos in the 3200 and get pulled to a big PR lol.

Had a dual meet at Clearfield today but I didn't plan on doing much because we have an invite on Saturday. I decided to just high jump, and do the 400 which I have never done before. Got about a mile warm up and felt pretty good. Since I've never raced the 400 I wasn't quite sure what to do. I didn't use the blocks because I'm not quite sure how to use those. I tried taking off as fast as I could as go. I was in the 6th lane so the curves felt real weird running out that far. I was pretty tired the last 100 but I just kept going. Ended up finishing in 52.88 which I guess is pretty good for never doing it before. State qualifying is only 51.01 so maybe I could get that if I decided to run it again. High jumped after as well and got 5'8" which is my last years p.r.. I never practice for that so it's not really important to me. Cooled down for a couple miles so I could get 6. Easy 3 mile pre-race for tomorrow. I am so darn sore from running that 400. I never knew that running a 400 could make my legs feel like that. My hamstrings hurt so darn bad, so I'm going to be doing a lot of rolling out before tomorrow. Can't wait!

So today was the Grizzly Invitational which I have been so excited for. I haven't raced a 3200 yet this outdoor season, so I was way pumped to see what I could do. Got to the meet at about 8:15 and did a half a mile with Hayden and Josh Leatham from Mountian View. He said he was running the 3200 and wanted to state qualify, which was also my goal, so we decided we would push eachother and try to hit the splits. I got only a mile warmup for the before the race because I'm pretty sure they didn't say first call or anything, so I rushed to get any kind of a warmup. When we started, I lead out the first 3 laps staying right on state qualifying pace, then Josh lead the next 4 laps. I stayed right on his back, but 5th and 6th lap was the killer. We started to fall off pace then. Not by much but just a couple seconds for each lap. With 600 meters left we really started to pick up the pace, because if we didn't state qualify, might as well try to win the race. I tried pulling in head with 500 left but i couldn't get passed him. With 300 left I told myself that I had to go now and I couldn't go by him slowly or he would stay with me. I kicked it and just kept going and by the time I hit the 200 mark I was at full speed. I coasted in with a 3 second victory over 2nd place. My last 400 meters I did in 66 seconds. Got a time of 9:43.29 which was a new p.r.. Dissapointed that I didn't state qualify but I definitely have it me and I will get it when in a race with a ton of competition. Good way to run my first 3200 of the season.

Pretty much sat in the sun all day long and got cooked. Tried sleeping in the school on an athletic trainer mat for some time but I couldn't. By the time the 1600 rolled around I was pretty exhausted. I sluggishly warmed up for a mile then lined up. I got out to a really bad start and that really messed me up mentally. Just a mixture of being really fatigued and mentally not being in the raced screwed me over. I ran a 4:44 which was just really embarassing. It really put a damper on my day. So far this year both of my 16's that I have raced were not very good. I know I can run a lot better than that, so I just need to more posotive about it and just get it done. Cooled down with Cam, Josh, Hayden, and Eric. I can't wait to keep racing and keep improving every race.

Today Don gave me a pretty easy track workout to do, just so I could get a feel for how my foot is feeling. First I warmed up for a a mile to Canyon Elementary and back. Then put on my spikes and did 8 by 400 with mile pace from 1:05-1:10 then every other lap in 1:30. It was desinged to be an easy workout for my foot, which it was. During the workout the pain seemed to go away, but still was there during the warmup and cooldown.

Today was supposed to be a meet, but it got cancelled which really sucks. I was mentally prepared to race. I could still feel a little pain in my foot, so I just did 3 miles at an easy pace. Better to take a few days easy than to try to push and hurt it worse.

What events are you running? You're signed up for the 800. Are you really that crazy? ;)

Cache Box today. (Actually last week, writing this a week after) Didn't mentally prepare as well as I did last week before the meet got canceled. The goal was to state qualify. Talked to Ethan before the race and he said if I would lead the first 800 then he would let me sit on him for the rest of the race. Sounded good to me. I did pretty good on the first 800 and I think we were just 3 seconds fast. I did my best to stay on his back but I fell off the 7th lap. At that point I just really tightened up in my shoulders and it slowed me down a ton. I finished with a 9:52 which I am not happy with at all. I'm really disappointed how that turned out. To make matters worse, Ethan ran a 9:37, so 1 second off state qualifying. I wish I could've been closer to him so I could have pushed him to qualify. My bad. Cooled down.

I half heartedly said I was going to do the 800. To be honest I haven't raced an 800 since freshman year. My coach suggested that if I wanted to run it in any invitationals for the rest of the year, then I'd better get a time. Warmed up a bit then lined up. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. When the gun went off everybody from my outside immediately crashed on the inside and put me right in the back. The first 300 of the race was fast and I was still about 8 people from the front. I told myself that I would make my move with 400 left. I honestly wasn't in the race at that point. That's how far back I was from the leader. When I kicked I just started sprinting as hard as I could. I didn't know how much I had in me but I just started passing people. With about 180 meters left in the race I caught the leader. At that point I was hurting so bad. I wanted to win though so I just kept going. I held the lead and I thought I had the win. With about 10 meters left I was so exhausted and when I went to take another step I don't think my brain registered that movement. I stumbled and almost ate it. Connor Compton and Jack Mcullough both slipped right past me just right before the finish line. I was furious. I had the win but just lost it. I ended up running a 2:01 which I guess is pretty good for doing that after a 3200 and doing it for my first time since freshman year.

Not much to say about the mile. I was exhausted and I ended up getting a side ache in my cool down after the 800. It didn't go away so I wasn't expecting much. I ran a terrible 4:54. Go me. My side was just killing me so that didn't help. If that wasn't enough racing for the day, all my coaches have been asking me to do the 4 by 4, so I did. I don't know my exact split but from what I heard it was the 2nd fastest on that team. Cooled down with Ethan, Claire, Jacob Malone from Box Elder. Not sure how I feel about today. Kind of disappointed in my performance.

No school today so I got to sleep in. My happiness ended when I saw the paper next morning with a picture of Ethan and I from the race yesterday. Lol then the roasting began. Ended up cutting my hair after that. Anyways, I tried running but my pain in my side hasn't gone away from yesterday. I think I pulled a muscle during the 800. It made running really tough so I only got 3 today. I hate days like this because any day that I don't get better is a wasted day.

I high jumped while I was there and got only 5'7".  Didn't end up doing a workout but just tried getting some mileage so I ran around with Ethan and Claire for a bit. Zan Ferrin asked near the end of the meet if I wanted to run with him and James, so we did the Shamrock Shuffle loop. Went home and did 1 more mile.

Got to the track really early because we had some long jumpers that had an event at the very first. Warmed up about a mile. Not as long of a warmup as I would have wanted. I was pretty nervous but mostly excited. I just wanted to focus on hitting my splits and state qualifying. I was right on for the first 4 laps, but the 5th lap is where I started to fall off. Mentally and physicaly I just kind of checked out of the race. The whole race was just kind of a blur. I finished in 9:52 which I was so dissapointed because I had high hopes for this race. Still in the slump... Idk what's up right now. Cooldown with Hayden, Eric, and efisher.

Warmup for about a mile and half and felt pretty good. I was really frustrated before the race even started but I'm going to keep that to myself. All I wanted to do was run a decent run because I haven't in a couple weeks. That's all I wanted. I was pretty nervous, but I hadn't ran a fresh mile since the beginning of the year so I was excited to see how I would do. I got out to a decent start but a little slow on the first lap. Just focused on trying to move up and staying mentally in the race. Not quite sure what my splits were but I finished in 4:31. I'm happy with it and I'm glad that I had a decent race. Cooled down a mile.

Had the 800 later and I was really tired. I tried telling myself that I would do good but I didn't have any juice. Ran like a 2:06. Yeah it sucked. Didn't cool down immediately but just chilled and watched some races. Later we went with Cameron and ran to the MTC which was fun.

Easy 5 miles to upper turkey, but when we got to the base of the mountain, we decided to walk up the MC do a bit of exploring. We ran on the side of the mountain into Blacksmith Fork canyon where we found this sick cliff that overlooked the canyon. I just on the edge of it for a couple minutes and absorbed all the beauty. I love nature and being outside. It really calmed me down because today wasn't too great of a day. Ran back and ended up with 5. Definitely one of the best days when it comes to running that I have had in a while. Going to do this same thing on friday after region. I ran at sea level a couple times this week and I think I've gotten use to it. Showed up at the park and warmed up for a mile with Hayden and Eric. When we started, I started getting a side ache with less than a mile into it, but just tried to ignore it. I kept doing Fartleks to keep trying to open a gap between me and second place. The I didn't feel like I was hurting bad at all. The pain was pretty manageable. Crossed the line in 16:29. I won a 25 dollar gift card to fire house, so it was worth having to wake up so early to run. Cooled down to 5. I need to start running more.

am: I wasn't quite sure what to do for a workout today, which tells me I need to start running with Ridgeline in the mornings. I decided to go out on a longer run that what I have been doing recently. When I hit the first mile in 7:11, I thought to myslef that this would be a good time to start a progression run. I didn't really have an exact pace drop on each mile, but just wanted to make sure that I did each mile faster. Mile splits were 7:11, 6:46, (too fast for that soon so I decided to keep the next mile close to the same) 6:44, 6:23, 6:08, 5:59. Finished with a mile cooldown to 7. Not a very faster progression run, but it was more beneficial than just joggging. The heat made everything really tough too. Might do a couple miles later tonight.

I could definitely tell I was out of shape when it came to running those hills. Ran back to Zollinger Park to finish with 6. Running in the morning is so much more enjoyable than running during the day, because the air is much cooler. Met at MC to run the deer fence from Blacksmith Fork Canyon all the way over to Millville and then have breakfast made by the coaches. Took off with Hayden and the start was really rough because the wind was crazy. Just like i remember it. Good ol' MC. The first 2 miles were slow because of the strong headwind. When we got on the deer fence trail that wrapped around the mountain, it was a relief to not have any wind. We were haulin up and down the hills, and with about the last 2 miles dippin in the mid 5 minute pace. Got to the park with 5.5 so I did another mile and a half on the grass before I ate. Once I finished eating I ran a half mile to meet Hayden down the road so I could get a ride back to MC. Today was sickkk.

I've been looking forward to this day all summer long and it has finally come. Tried getting to bed really early and surprisingly fell asleep pretty quickly. The only problem was that I woke up at 3:30 in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep because I was so excited. I ate a little bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and headed out the door at 6. When I got to A.J. park I found some more of the fellow Hobby Joggers and did a short warmup. I was getting pretty nervous but I was so excited to race. When the race started I recognized one of the runners that was running near the front with a few of us. It was Skylar Riggs from SUU. For the first mile, I wasn't running my race. Nobody was, except for Skylar. We took out the first mile in 5:05. Lol. Everybody naturally just slowed down after that first mile and just let Skylar go. At the 3 mile mark my split was 15:52 so we were still haulin. I was feeling pretty good, but then I started getting some pain in my rib/sternum area. It really started to affect my breathing and made me slow down for a good couple of miles even though my body was telling me to keep going. I started to fade a little bit from Ethan, and Hayden started to catch me. By about mile 6 I managed my breathing good enough that the pain went away. I started closing the gap on Ethan and finally caught him on Blacksmith Fork Hill. He turned around and gave me a high five then took off. That kid is such a troll. That hill wrecked me pretty good, but I just tried to keep the gap in between Hayden and I. By mile 7 I was feeling pretty beat, but I just kept pushing hard. The long flat in between the hill and McDonalds was the hardest part of the race for me. I was hurting and mentally I just wanted to run at a more comfortable pace. I really wanted to catch Ethan again so I pushed that thought out of my head. Once I hit the main street in Hyrum I really focused on striding out and getting the most distance that I could in between each step because of the downhill. Even though at that point I knew that I wasn't going to catch Ethan, I just tried making sure that I wasn't going to get caught by Hayden. I could have given more on my final sprint, but that wouldn't have on changed my place so whatever. I finished in third overall behind Skylar and Ethan. My time was 51:50 for 9.3 miles, a 5:34 average mile pace. Ethan finished 9 seconds in head of me, and Hayden finished 6 seconds behind me. I laid down on the grass immediately after crossing the line, and when I tried to get up, my hip flexor just tightened up and killed. I could hardly walk around without a ton of pain. So I hobbled around and talked with a bunch of people until the awards. It was an awesome day of racing. What a great way to start the 4th of July! Good job to everyone who ran. It was a blast!

2 easy miles around Nibley. Hip flexors just killed, so I rolled out after. I'm not training for anything, so that's why I have been taking this week off.

Ran into Millville in the heat of the day. Headed towards the cemetery and up cemetery hill. Ran to my buddies house which was right on the dot for 3 miles, so I turned back from there. My legs felt really heavy, ecspecially for the first 3 miles because if there wasn't a hill, there was some sort of incline. The second half of the run felt much better because of the downhill. Average pace was 7:19.

pm: Met up with Joe and Hayden to do a couple miles. Joe wants to get back in shape so we are going to start running with him. Started at his apartment and passed Logan high onto main street in Logan. It was a great time getting back to together and running just like old times. Hit 2 miles, and turned back. Finished with 4. Average pace was 7:04. It felt lovely.
