Today we ran Mt. Pisgah. It was cold outside and looked like it was going to rain, but it made the air feel good. We had an interval workout of 1 minute hard, 1 minute active recovery, 30 seconds hard, 30 seconds recovery, and so on. After a 8 minute warmup we started and we were supposed to do this for 15 minutes. Mt. Pisgah is a gradaul inlcine on a gravel road which helped add to the difficulty. My legs were pretty tired mainly because I have been trying to put in as much milage as I could this week, aiming for 70. I could feel the soreness in my legs from the hill workout we did earlier in the week. At the end of the 15 minutes of intervals I was at 3 miles, and then I ran for another mile up so when I finished I could have 8 miles. On the way back it started to rain really heavy rain, but it felt good. The whole way down my knees were hurting a lot and I didn't want to push it down hill. I was going about a 6:40 mile pace on the way down. Last time on this run I hurt myself on the down hill, so I'm glad didn't do that this time. As usual, when i got home, I was tired, so I slept after I got something to eat. I'm not looking forward to doing atleast another 5 miles tonight, but I got to if I'm going to get 70 miles.

Today we are started to focus on getting some speed. We did a 2 mile warmup around McDonalds loop, and then we got back on the track. Our workout was 1 mile at your 10K pace and then another mile, but every 400 was progressivley faster so on your last lap it is was an all out sprint. I ran the 10K pace and ran my mile in 5:45. Then on the last mile I ran it in 5:10. It was actually a pretty good workout. I didn't think it was going to be, but it was. After that, I ran a 1 mile cool down on the track, and then a barefoot mile. I was at 7.3 for milage and I couldn't finish until i got 8, so I ran 3 more laps on the track. I think this week I am going to try to run 60-65 miles so I am gonna go atleast 4 miles tonight. I am going to run in the heat of the day too. That should help me handle the heat better when the season comes around.

pm run: 4 miles. It was really hot. My avg. mile pace was 6:48. Calves are sore from the run earlier this morning.

welcome to blog man :) That's crazy 60 miles?! Personally I'm at 40-50 and hope to get up to 1 60 mile week if I'm healthy. Keep up the good work. Maybe you MC guys could do a trail run with us sometime?

Today we ran from Mtn. Crest all the way to Jamba Juice. An 8 mile run. My legs hurt pretty bad the whole entire way because of yesterdays workout. Joe and Hayden weren't there today so I ran the whole thing by myself. Usually on tuesdays we do tempo runs but we had a hard workout yesterday, so coach Don told us to take it easy. He said if I wanted to though, that I could tempo it. I tried to stay below 6 minutes for the first 2 miles but my legs hurt so bad! So till mile 6, I stayed low 6's. For the last 2 miles I was high 6's. Not really much of a tempo pace today, but it still was a really fun run. Got myself a peanut butter mood with a whey protein boost in it. Yum! Got to do atleast 3 miles tonight.

pm run: Did an easy 3 miles. Hopefully the soreness in my legs go away soon. 1st Dam run tommorow morning. Looking forward to running and then jumping off the bridge into the river.

Today was an easy run for me. I am still hurting from mondays workout, and running hard yesterday didn't do anything to help me feel better. Started at 1st dam and went and ran up around at USU. Got to the quad and ran a mile and half barefoot. Just seemed like this morning I didn't have much motivation and I just wanted to be done with my run. I went pretty slow too. I am racing on the 24th, so hopefully my legs will be feeling better by then. Might go on another short run tonight. Not sure.

The race today was really fun. I have never ran here, but I am here with my grandparents for a couple days so I decided to run in this race. I felt really relaxed as I raced. Didn't have anybody pushing me. The competition was really slow. (2nd place finished 1 minute and 50 seconds behind me) My pace was really steady the whole time. I warmed up with a mile, and cooled down with a mile and half. Great way to start the 24th. Met some cool people while I was in Bear River. This week I don't even think I'm gonna hit 60 miles again like last week because of my race and pre-race.

Hollow road today. We were supposed to be going an easy pace, but for some reason everybody was pushing the pace. We were going like high 5's and low 6's. When we got back on the highway we sprinted in between every other telephone pole, which helps make the hill you're on pass by faster. Then we got back to the school and ran 4X 200 meter strideouts. I felt great on those. It really makes me want to have some speedwork. We finished and ran a barefoot mile, then I put the spikes on 1 more time and ran a half mile.

pm: I was at the logan rec center with my family playing racket ball and it was getting dark. I really wanted to get home and go run, but they wanted to play and stay because my sister is leaving for the MTC on Wednesday for her mission. She is going to Sydney, Australia by the way. But anyways, I knew that I couldn't run at home because the mosquito fogger drives around Nibley on monday and its bad to breath, so I ran a mile on the track at LHS and then they were ready to go. My right knee hurts, and so does my foot, but I am trying to ice and take care of it.

Today was supposed to be a tempo run on Nibley Dip for 20 minutes, but our coach changed it to be 1 minute at mile pace, and 3 minutes active recovery. We were supposed to do that for 20 minutes. So in all, we got 5 minutes at mile pace. I would have of preffered the regular 20 minute tempo run because it's usually a really good workout, but I'm okay with it today, because my knees have started to hurt. Contemplated not going this morning. I was sooo tired. Glad that I did though. I  really want to get 70 miles this week, but I can already tell that it's gonna be a tough week, so we will see.

Today we went to 1st dam to run 7 miles on the river trail. I'm just a little confused abut one thing though. Why the fetch is it under 40 degrees outside when we are still in July!? I just don't understand. But besides freezing my hands off, the run was good. I was a little sore from yesterday. Gotta make this blog short because we are leaving to drop my sister off at the MTC. Goodluck to her. Gotta do atleast 4 tonight.

Blacksmith Fork Hill today! 7 hill repeats, and boy did that suck. I maintained a 5:30-5:45 pace all the way up the hill. I was happy with that because the hill is sooo long. I usually dread the workout the night before, but I am glad that I got out and worked hard. After the hills, I ran McDonalds loop back to the school. Great morning to get out on a run. All except for the wind, which I think blew the hardest it has all summer, but thats alright. Gonna go 3 to 4 miles tonight.

pm: Did a fun 4 miles today with Joe. Stayed at about a 6:45 pace. Good conversations with him. Geez you wack liberalists. Got home and I was at 4 miles, but I was feeling pretty good, so I went one more mile and got 5. I think I'm gonna finally get 70 miles this week.

Today we ran upper turkey sheds. The wind was crazy today. Had to run into the wind a lot of the time, and that just sucked. My legs were pretty fatigued from yesterdays hill workout. It was an easy pace, but still felt tough. Got back to the school and then we did 4X200 meter strideouts. I was 3 quarters of a mile short of 8, so some of us ran barefoot on the football field and finished with 8. Goodluck to Coach Don at the American Fork Half Marathon tomorrow. Got to go atleast 3 or 4 tonight.

pm: Easy run with Joe. 4.25 miles. Same loop in Nibley as we have been doing for the past couple days. I'm kinda of fatigued from our workouts earlier this week. Not really looking forward to our morning run tomorrow.

This morning me and a few other varsity kids, met up in providence to do a 9 mile run. Our coach told us the directions on where to go. It was one 5 mile loop, and one 4 mile loop. The first 5 mile loop was pretty hilly. Long gradual inclines, that didn't feel to great. Every workout that I have done this week had pretty decent sized hills. At the end of the loop, we stopped at Zollinger park where we first started, and I changed my shoes to my Adidas Boost  because they have more cushion than my Kinvara's. I wasn't too thrilled to do the second loop because that has a really big hill that goes on for about 3 quarters of a mile. We ran it and it was tiring. Even though Hayden is on a bike because of his injury, he still got a pretty good workout. For the rest of the run, we just cruised on the downhill and flat. Pretty happy that I'm gonna get 70 miles this week. Now I can start toning the milage down for the season. Gotta do 4 miles tonight and I will get 70. So will Joe.

pm: Finally got 70 miles! Now I can start toning down the milage and start to focus on speed work for the season. Not much to say about the run other than it was wayy hot, and I was already exhausted because I was at the logan pool for 4 hours before that. Pretty happy that I got it though. Just gonna go out and play some ping pong and have a fire with my buddies. Peace.

So this morning my alarm went off at 5:30 and I was so dang tired, I decided that I would snooze for like 2 minutes. After what felt like 2 minutes I checked my clock and it was 6:20! I shot out of bed so quick and got dressed and drove straight to where I knew that we were doing our workout. I sped to Lincoln elementary and thank goodness, the team was still in the circle stretching and taking care of team business. I told my coach what happened, and that I would make up the miles I missed.

The workout today was doing figure 8's on the grass with our spikes on. We run at our 5k pace for 3 minutes, and jog for 2 minutes. That's one set. We would do that 5 times. It was a pretty good workout. My average pace for my 5k speed was around high 4's and low 5's. So I felt good about it. Good to see Hayden out getting to run. Joe did really good today as well. Drove back to the school and did 2.5 miles on the track. Tonight I will do 3 or 4 miles.

Easy 5 miles this morning on Nibley Dip. We have tryouts tomorrow and I want to P.R. on my 10k, so hopefully I will be feeling good tomorrow. After I went to ball in Hyrum and the stake center, but nobody looked like they were there so I didn't go in later finding out that there were people inside playing. Probably good for me that I didn't play. Knowing my luck I would have of shattered my femur. Sooo good thing I didn't play. Gonna do an easy couple miles tonight.

So I'm gonna put this as a race report because a couple of other kids and I raced it. Just a flat 6 mile run. Did a short warm up and 2 strideouts and they I lined up. Me and Joe got off to a pretty fast start. We settled in at a good pace at about 1.5 miles. I was feeling really good and started to get a lead by mile 2. Around mile 3 I was at a comfortable 5:40 mile pace. On the way back for the last 3 miles I was telling everybody good job and I was feeling really strong. With about a mile left I tried picking up the pace even more. I really was hoping to break 34 minutes and with a half mile left, I could tell that it was going to be close, so I picked it up even more. I ran strong all the way through the line but I ended up getting 34:04. I felt great physically and didn't even feel winded! Shout out to Hayden for running as fast as he did despite his injury. He killed it today. Shout out to Don with the wack username. Pron8r. hahahaha. Got and afternoon run. Heat of the day!

pm: Did 3.5 miles in the heat. I wasn't feeling like I had a ton of energy for I still felt alright. I stopped a few times under shaded areas to get a quick breather. I averaged about a 6:45 the whole time. I hope I feel well recovered by tomorrow because Don says we have a pretty good track workout that we are gonna do. I'm excited for that. I'm gonna kill it. Gonna go to Crystal Hotsprings in a bit. Hopefully that doesn't suck away my energy.

Well kind of a shor set back. I tried to jump out of the slide at Crystal Hotsprings last night and the way I tried to do it, I hurt my knee. Probably am going to need a couple days to recover. I need to stop being so stupid. It's frustrating when things like this happen. Hopefully it doesn't last too long.

Today we ran 10 in providence with some pretty big hills. My knee felt good probably because of all that icing I have been doing. I was pretty mad about the top 100 returning cross country boys in Utah list that milesplit just put out. My head coach never really put in any times from last season and I would've easily made that list. Makes me look real good. I'm gonna get that sorted out because that just makes me mad.

Reverse ladders on the track today. I was pretty excited to do that because I really like track workouts. Our first 4 laps were supposed to be our 5k pace plus 10 seconds. I went way faster then that. I was going pretty fast and finished my first mile in about 4:50. Sorry I don't have exact times and splits right now, my watch is acting up. I was feeling great though. I just kept trying to push myself throught the workout. I don't really remember anything to special about the 3 laps or 2 laps, but I do remember that on our 400 meter lap that it really sucked. I was sucking air. We had 200 meters to finish it off. Supposed to go all out. I felt like a sprinter on that because I was flying. Finished to off with a mile cooldown, and then ran barefoot .6 to get 6 miles. Really good workout today. Looking forward to the Alumni Meet on wednesday.

Easy 6 miles today. We have the Alumni Meet tomorrow, so hopefully I won't be sore because I want to do really good at that. I drank some water before I came to practice and I had a pretty bad sideache for about 4 miles. Near the end of the run I started feeling the effects of yesterdays workout. I think I will feel fine by tomorrow though.

Today was the Alumni Meet on the dreaded MC course. Went for a 15 minute warmup with hayden and did some strideouts. My knee was clicking and it was kind of uncomfortable. I was pretty anxious for this race for this whole week. As we started, Joe and I went out pretty quick and at the first mile I was a 5:31. After the hill coming off the dirt road, my body really tried to relax, and that just slowed me down a ton. That is the one place on the course that I need to push harder. Cemetery hill felt alright as I tried to attack every hill we ran on. It was really hot and I wasn't going as fast as I wanted to. I probably could have pushed harder for the last half mile. I ended up finishing with a time of 17:18. That's a P.R. on this course, and if you don't already know, that whole course is pretty much hills. Definitley one of the hardest courses in the state. I wasn't too happy with the time I got because I know I can do better, but it was okay and I had a good time running it. Shout out to Branson for pulling a Spencer and not showing up the whole summer and then coming in the top 5! He's gonna kill it this year.

Hill repeats today on Blacksmith Fork Hill. We had to do 8 of them which is the most we have ever done. First started with a 1 mile warmup to the canyon, did some stretching and then started running the hills. It was pretty tough and my knee kept on clicking so it was pretty annoying. My body feels pretty good from yesterday so I felt like I didn't need much of a recovery. So glad that that is the last time we have to run on that hill this summer. Easy cool down back to the school. Easy 3 tonight.

pm: Ended up getting 3.75 miles in the heat. I tried to get my little brother to come and run, but he kept saying we were going to fast and he just wanted me to go by myself so I did. One week until our first season race. Bring it on!

Today we ran the Beaver Mountain Varsity Relay. Basically you have partner and you run while they bike for 10 minutes and then you switch off after the 10 minutes are over. We had an odd number of girls, so I got 2 girls in my group whcihc meant that I would only get to bike a third of the time. I ran pretty far in head of my group so when it was my turn to bike, I just kept on running. We were running to an area where a plane crashed a long time ago. The way up it was mostly long inclines. It was a bout a 6 mile trip up. By the time we got back to the bottom and I got a bit of time to bike, I ended with 10.5 miles. Great time to bond with the team. After some other kids and I went to Branson's house and swam it his pool. Then we went to coach Don's for a varsity barbeque. Then after that went to Eric Laub's for the big end of summer bash party. It was awesome! Great day of parties!

I haven't posted on here since the end of summer so I am gonna try to start doing this more often. Hayden was a G and switched into the 10k so we both didn't have to compete over 1 turkey. I would have, but I have been sick and it probably wouldn't be the best thing to do running in the cold for that long, plus that is about the 4th or 5th time I've been able to run in about 7 weeks. (I've had mono) The race was fun and cold but I got off to a decent start. Eric stuck with me for about a mile. The course was pretty tough because of the really long gradual inclines. I have lost a lot of my strength running hills since I haven't ran in so long. So those were pretty tough, but my favorite part of the finishing gradual downhill that was at the end. I had a pretty big lead from 2nd place and I just cruised down the hill. Came across the finishline in 18:45 which is nowhere good for me, but considering the tough course, me being sick, and not running in about 7 weeks I was fine with my time. I won a turkey in the 5k, and Hayden won a turkey in the 10k so my plan worked! Hope this next week I can do some real good for training for footlocker. I really need to keep my immune system up because it's been down recently. I need to start taking in more vitamin C.

Today was the first time in 64 days that I have gotten a some what decent workout for running after school. The workout was 6 miles alternating paces every mile. Easy on the odd, hard on the even. I haven't ran that hard in a while. We were going like a 5:20 pace during the hard miles, and that would have not been hard at all when I was healthy, but it hurt so bad. After the second hard mile, we were at mile 4, and I just stopped and laid down at the side of the road. I was very dizzy and tired. I hope I can get back into shape soon with footlocker coming up. I jogged back to the school which was about another mile away, but I didn't do the last hard mile on the track. I just laid down on the football feild and waited for hayden to finish. Rough workout. Went to the Logan rec center later on and play some pick up games. Proabably shouldn't have, but I played really cautious.

Nobody had shoveled their sidewalks yet, so I had to run on the side of the road where all the slush had built up from cars driving on the road. I was pretty much in straight slush for about 5 miles of my run, which sucked. Just made everything cold and miserable. It was snowing aswell. Just ran at an easy pace. Through in a couple quarter mile fartleks for fun.

That stinks I went early enough so the roads hadn't even been plowed yet so no slush. But man 20 degree weather is freaking cold!

My goodness today just sucked. Our workout was 10 sets of 3 minutes at tempo pace, and then 1 minute at easy pace. I know that I'm getting my wind back, but I still have been really struggling to even remotely touch where I was before I got mono. Tried to keep about a 5:30 average pace during the tempo portions, and I did decent on it. It was just way hard considering it was only a 5:30 average pace.

Easy recovery run today with Hayden. We were going about a 7 minute pace for the whole way, and it felt pretty good even though I was freezing. Pretty excited for Footlocker, cant wait!

Holy Fetch! Who knew running could be so hard. This was the first time in a while that I have been able to run. It didn't feel to good, but at the same time I felt mighty fine. The original plan was to try to get 6 miles but my knees were hurting early on in the run, and I could feel that I was starting to get blisters on my toes. I tried to keep an easy pace the whole way with a few breaks to stretch. My average mile pace was 7:12. I ran past a house with about 3 fire engines, ambulances, and cop cars. Looked like there was a fire that they had to put out. From the looks of it, it was a pretty major which gives me reason to believe my mixtape must have been the source of the fire. Always have a bucket of water on hand when listening to that thing. Just some advice. Excited to back into the running grind. (Oh don't mind the shoe milage of 154 miles. I am adding it that way so it's more accurate)

It probably wasn't a very good idea to eat breakfast  10 minutes before I went running. I had a pretty bad side ache the whole entire time which made me run a lot slower than I wanted to. My average mile pace was 7:08. I tried to not let the side ache bother me but I couldn't help but make 3 stops to get some temporary relief. My mind seemed to stray from running to think about the awesome new Lamborghini Aventador that I'm gonna get for Christmas. My parents laughed at me when I said I wanted that for Christmas, but I know Santa is gonna pull through for me. Merry Christmas everybody.

Yeah I did run on Christmas day. Dedication. Haha no just kidding, I ran two miles and just tried to make it short and sweet. My average mile pace was 5:57. It was cold and my legs hurt real good. Just need to get a good week of running and my legs will get use to it. I am gonna go party. Merry Christmas Fam!

It was freezing this morning and I wasn't very motivated to go run so I was thinking that I might go to the pool and  run, or go lift weights. It got to about 3 o'clock and it felt like it warmed up a bit. (16 degrees outside) So I went for a nice cold run. My average mile pace was 6:47. I've been trying to stay real posotive about getting back in shape. I want to throw down some sick times in indoor track this year.

It was about 10 degrees outside. What better temperature to run in! Average mile pace was 7:15. Picked Joe up at about mile 4. He ran with us for the rest of the time. Good run.

I wanted to run about 4-5 miles today at a faster pace than I have been doing. Not tempo pace but just a bit faster than my regular jog. My average mile pace was 6:18 which should've been fine to maintain but I wasn't feeling it. I was just pretty tired and didn't have very much motivation to push harder like wanted to. I'm thinking my night sleep could have some affect on that. I was at Denny's till like 1:20 last night and didn't fall asleep till around 3. Might go the the gym later on and lift weights or hop on the treadmill.

pm: 3 decent miles on the treadmill at the sports academy. Threw in a bit of incline for a mile. Then I did some leg excercises on the machines there. My legs are gonna get so beefy. My legs didn't feel to great but that didn't stop me from getting a couple good dunks in on the court. My femur is starting to hurt and it feels like it is in the bone. I am kinda paranoid that it might be the starting of a stress fracture so I'm gonna have a close eye on that for the next couple days.

No running today because of my femur that was hurting yesterday. I didn't do anything, but it feels fine today, even when I press on it, so I think I'm gonna be fine. Good night with some buddies at Crystal Hotsprings. Felt real nice to soak my legs in that water. I will give running a try tomorrow and see how it feels.

It was freezing outside this afternoon so I decided I would just go to the Sports Academy and run on the treadmills there. When I go there a lot of people were walking out, only finding out they closed at 3 for New Years. So That ment my run would be outside in the freezing cold. Got home and it was about 7 degrees. Started running at an easy pace. Finished my first mile in 7:11, and as I warmed up my mile times seemed to get progressively faster. I finished my 4th mile in 6:15. My average mile pace was 6:47. So it was an okay run. Just really hard to warm up. My femur felt good too so that's a good thing. Gonna go to Ethan Field's house tonight for New Years to relax and have a good time. No crazy parties this year.
