Definitely not what I was hoping for. The night before I got about 4 hours of sleep. I went to bed a little before 10 and I kept on checking the time, and the last time I checked it was 12:45. I think the reason why I couldn't sleep is because I kept thinking about the race in the morning. I woke up at 5 because the plan was to leave by house at 6. The drive down, I didn't get an ounce of sleep because usually once I'm awake for a while, then I can't go back to sleep. When I got there I checked in then did a mile and half warm up. My event was about 15 minutes later. Finally to the race. I had the 4th spot on the line and when we started, the 18 people on my outside had cut in and I was immediately boxed in. To make matters worse, whoever was in front was not pushing the pace at all. Our first 400 meters we did in 1:11. Way to slow. The whole next lap I was pushing to try and get out which I finally did. The third lap I did a poor job on keeping my position and staying tight on the person in front of me. A few people slipped in front of me which was bad of me. The fourth lap I did a poor job of kicking and passing people. I didn't get passed by anybody, but I didn't pass anyone either. When I crossed the line I still felt like I had more in the tank and I could've run faster. Physically I felt good. I ended up finishing 24 overall but I’m a much better runner than what my race had reflected. Although I was not happy with my time I still was glad that I got the opportunity to run because I learned a lot of valuable things during that race. Things that I will be able to apply into my races in the future. It was the first time that I have raced this outdoor season so I hope I can get all the bad out of the way at the beginning and start doing well from now on. I don’t race again until this Saturday, so I’m looking forward to a week of good workouts.

Later at about 4:30 I did a hill workout that I promised my coach I would do after my race. The workout was 6 by 2 minute hill repeats on center street hill in Providence. I was a little tired but still got a really good workout. Cooled down for 2 miles so I could get 10 for the day.

Tough race to be in with the start like that. Good job though despite the numerous factors that were against you!

Thanks guys! Zack, you freakin killed it with a 4:20. This early in the season with a time like that is awesome. Good job! Cam, I am running the 3200 and the 1600. I assume you're doing the 800. What else man?
