So today was the Grizzly Invitational which I have been so excited for. I haven't raced a 3200 yet this outdoor season, so I was way pumped to see what I could do. Got to the meet at about 8:15 and did a half a mile with Hayden and Josh Leatham from Mountian View. He said he was running the 3200 and wanted to state qualify, which was also my goal, so we decided we would push eachother and try to hit the splits. I got only a mile warmup for the before the race because I'm pretty sure they didn't say first call or anything, so I rushed to get any kind of a warmup. When we started, I lead out the first 3 laps staying right on state qualifying pace, then Josh lead the next 4 laps. I stayed right on his back, but 5th and 6th lap was the killer. We started to fall off pace then. Not by much but just a couple seconds for each lap. With 600 meters left we really started to pick up the pace, because if we didn't state qualify, might as well try to win the race. I tried pulling in head with 500 left but i couldn't get passed him. With 300 left I told myself that I had to go now and I couldn't go by him slowly or he would stay with me. I kicked it and just kept going and by the time I hit the 200 mark I was at full speed. I coasted in with a 3 second victory over 2nd place. My last 400 meters I did in 66 seconds. Got a time of 9:43.29 which was a new p.r.. Dissapointed that I didn't state qualify but I definitely have it me and I will get it when in a race with a ton of competition. Good way to run my first 3200 of the season.

Pretty much sat in the sun all day long and got cooked. Tried sleeping in the school on an athletic trainer mat for some time but I couldn't. By the time the 1600 rolled around I was pretty exhausted. I sluggishly warmed up for a mile then lined up. I got out to a really bad start and that really messed me up mentally. Just a mixture of being really fatigued and mentally not being in the raced screwed me over. I ran a 4:44 which was just really embarassing. It really put a damper on my day. So far this year both of my 16's that I have raced were not very good. I know I can run a lot better than that, so I just need to more posotive about it and just get it done. Cooled down with Cam, Josh, Hayden, and Eric. I can't wait to keep racing and keep improving every race.
