I had started running at a young age starting in elementary school but that was a while ago, so none of that is important. In 9th grade my start of cross country began. Despite not running at all during the past summer, I was the only freshman boy to make it to the Bob Firman invite. At the end of the season I was awarded with he freshman of the year award, which I was proud of. That coming track season I didn't put any hard work into running before because I thought I could just show up and run. My 1600m p.r. that year was a 5:03 and I also lettered that year.

My sophmore year was a year that I regret and I wish that I could do all over again. I didn't run at all the summer following up to that cross country season despite constant effort from my parents to wake me and and get me to go running. When the season came, I had zero motivation to work hard and run. Intstead of going to practices after school, I would walk to McDonalds and get food to eat and wait for my older sister to return. My lack of hard work showed during the season. I was no longer the fastest my age and for some reason I just didn't seem to care. This was probably my most wasted year of running that I wish i could get back. When track season came I only improved by 7 seconds by running a 4:56 mile. I ran that my first race of the season at a duel meet against Roy. All season long I tried to be motivated and do the workouts so I could improve, but I didn't improve at all that whole season. I really started to get frustrated.

Because I had been on the school basketball team since I was a freshman, that is mainly what my summer consisted of. I didn't learn my lesson the first 2 summers and I still did not do any summer running. I spent most my time in a gym shooting hoops and trying to lift weights. By the end of summer I was getting burnt out of basketball and I debated even trying out again. I was looking something new to try. Near the end of the summer I was in a conversation with a running teamate of mine. He said something to me that sparked a bit of motivation for running. With only about 2 weeks left until the Alumni meet, I started to run. I felt out of running shape, but I still continued to run. I was only doing about 3 miles a day at the most until the day of the meet came. I had one goal at that meet. I won't say it though for multiple reasons. The race was really tough because our course has a lot of steep hills, and I hadn't ran a hill that whole summer. I pushed myself the whole race and when I come acrsoss the line i finished second from Mountain Crest behind Nick Allen and I got my goal. This made a lot of my teamates mad that I hardly ran that whole summer and came out and beat them. This made my motivation for running grow even more. I really started looking forward to the season. I started improving a lot more than I had expected. My coaches did real good job of helping  get better. In a nutshell I improved a lot more that I expected and became the fastest runner my age again. At the end of the  season I was awarded the most improved runner award. I was excited to run track that coming season so I continued to run throughout the winter. During Christmas break i went snowboarding and thought it would be a good idea to go off and A-rail. I ate in and my right knee really hurt bad. The pain was there for a couple weeks. Found out a bruised my femur and I super lucky to not have of shattered my femur. #blessed That stopped my running for the winter and took my training to the the pool in the mornings before school. Track rolled around and I was finally cleared to start running. I ran my best and made it to all the invitationals that I could. I believe that if I wouldn't have of injured myself, that I would of had a much better chance of making it to state. I would have had 3 extra months of training which would have of really helped. At the end of year awards I recieved the most improved runner award again.

This summer I am motivated to get better and doing my best in my workouts. I hope this next year of running I can do well.

Senior year for cross country was awesome while it lasted. I did great breaking all my records and improving every race. All of my hard summer training had started to pay off. After my race of the year (Cache Box) I got sick with what was thought to be the flu. I was so out of energy for every race and just could not push myself like I wanted to. After a dissapointing race and state, I went to the doctors for a blood test. My results came back posotive for mono. Sucks to have that happen my senior year, but atleast I have track. I'm gonna put in some hard work during the winter.

Ran into Millville in the heat of the day. Headed towards the cemetery and up cemetery hill. Ran to my buddies house which was right on the dot for 3 miles, so I turned back from there. My legs felt really heavy, ecspecially for the first 3 miles because if there wasn't a hill, there was some sort of incline. The second half of the run felt much better because of the downhill. Average pace was 7:19.

pm: Met up with Joe and Hayden to do a couple miles. Joe wants to get back in shape so we are going to start running with him. Started at his apartment and passed Logan high onto main street in Logan. It was a great time getting back to together and running just like old times. Hit 2 miles, and turned back. Finished with 4. Average pace was 7:04. It felt lovely.
