Turns out last night wasn't my last run as a senior because woke up this morning and I realized I would have no time to run later this evening. So I did my favorite Nibley loop. My knees were hurting every time I took a step. That's what a break usually does to me. Average pace was 6:54. Missing my team practices right now.

Finally decided to go running for the first time while being in Washington. I was really anxious to see how sea level affects my running. I planning on just going for a couple of easy miles, but when I started running, my pace was way faster than how it felt. I wasn't trying to push and get a workout, but I just made sure my pace was under 6 minutes the whole way. Finished the 4 miles in 5:55 pace, and I felt great. Running at sea level is awesome. I hope I get to do it more in the future.

Three easy miles at sea level in Washington. Average pace was 6:18. Felt great to be outside and run.

Got home after flying home from Washington and I wanted to just get a feel for the elevation. Didn't have much time to do a run, so I did 2 miles around Nibley. Feeling pretty good. I have a race tomorrow so I hope I can do well.

Always excited to run this race because the awards for the winner is always pretty good. Didn't get very much sleep and I haven't been running very much, so I was a little worried on how I would do. I ran at sea level a couple times this week and I think I've gotten use to it. Showed up at the park and warmed up for a mile with Hayden and Eric. When we started, I started getting a side ache with less than a mile into it, but just tried to ignore it. I kept doing Fartleks to keep trying to open a gap between me and second place. The I didn't feel like I was hurting bad at all. The pain was pretty manageable. Crossed the line in 16:29. I won a 25 dollar gift card to fire house, so it was worth having to wake up so early to run. Cooled down to 5. I need to start running more.

My quads were pretty sore from Ragnar so I was looking really forward to a nice recovery run. I started from my home and ran through hollow road until I hit 3 miles out, then did 3 back. Average pace was 7:11. Elevated and rolled out my legs after which felt really nice.

I was planning on waking up at running with Ridgeline at six in the morning, but I could not wake up for the life of me. I decided to just run my favorite Nibley loop backwards, but to tempo it. My first mile was a warmup, then for the next 3 miles I tried to stay on to 5:30 pace. I can tell that I have lost some of my speed from track, but I am working to get it back. Cooled down for a mile to get 5 miles.

am: I wasn't quite sure what to do for a workout today, which tells me I need to start running with Ridgeline in the mornings. I decided to go out on a longer run that what I have been doing recently. When I hit the first mile in 7:11, I thought to myslef that this would be a good time to start a progression run. I didn't really have an exact pace drop on each mile, but just wanted to make sure that I did each mile faster. Mile splits were 7:11, 6:46, (too fast for that soon so I decided to keep the next mile close to the same) 6:44, 6:23, 6:08, 5:59. Finished with a mile cooldown to 7. Not a very faster progression run, but it was more beneficial than just joggging. The heat made everything really tough too. Might do a couple miles later tonight.

pm: 2 easy miles around Nibley. Took it really slow and just enjoyed it. I'm going to miss nights like this in Cache Valley.

Woke up this morning and ran with Ridgeline. They were doing a hill workout and I haven't done his in about a month, so I'm glad that I went. They only had 4 repeats this weeks which isn't a lot but they increase by 1 each week. I could definitely tell I was out of shape when it came to running those hills. Ran back to Zollinger Park to finish with 6. Running in the morning is so much more enjoyable than running during the day, because the air is much cooler. So I think I will try running with Ridgline more often.

Ran with Ridgeline again this morning. Met at the Stake Center in Hyrum and ran Peavine. The whole first half sucked because it was all uphill and my legs were sore from yesterday. Once I hit the downhill the run was much more enjoyable. It was beautiful outside and the air felt great. Average pace was 6:48.

Met Hayden at Zollinger Park and then ran towards first dam. My butt has still been really sore since the hill workout on Thursday. Felt pretty sluggish but I'm always grinding out those miles. Finished with 6. Went home and gorged myself on Swedish Fish. I probably at half of one of those big bags. Yeah, my nutrition is crap. Then realized that I was a half mile short of 40 miles for the week, so I ran an easy mile. Can't wait for the Freedom Run.

am: Didn't wake up to run this morning with Ridgline because I was so darn tired, plus I had to go bale hay before it got hot outside, so I ended not getting to run until it got hot. I warmed up for a mile, then started doing 400 meter intervals towards hollow road. My legs felt really heavy and it was hard to stay in the high 4's and low 5's range. Went 3 miles out and then turned back and did the same thing back home. Might do a couple more miles tonight.

Met at MC to run the deer fence from Blacksmith Fork Canyon all the way over to Millville and then have breakfast made by the coaches. Took off with Hayden and the start was really rough because the wind was crazy. Just like i remember it. Good ol' MC. The first 2 miles were slow because of the strong headwind. When we got on the deer fence trail that wrapped around the mountain, it was a relief to not have any wind. We were haulin up and down the hills, and with about the last 2 miles dippin in the mid 5 minute pace. Got to the park with 5.5 so I did another mile and a half on the grass before I ate. Once I finished eating I ran a half mile to meet Hayden down the road so I could get a ride back to MC. Today was sickkk.

I decided with the Freedom Run being this coming Monday, that I would go up and run the course. Cam and Hayden came along. We started about a mile before the starting line. I was pretty sore and tired. Just tried visualizing what the race would be like. The downhill on the course is awesome and I'm looking forward to a big p.r.. Average pace was 6:39. Stretched and rolled out after.

Ran into Millville for one of the first time ever. Not really sure why I have never really ran to Millville, but I'm going to start doing it more. I wanted to find Cemetery hill so I could do some repeats on it, but I couldn't find it and I didn't want to run over 5 miles so I just found some inclines and pushed those. My run also sort of turned into a progression run. Just felt really fresh in my legs. Stretched and rolled out after.
